3 Reasons To Do a Golden Hour/Dusk Shoot on Your Wedding Day

educational

Dearest clients: I always recommend a sunset session on the wedding day. Here’s 3 reasons why.

But first, what exactly is a sunset session? On the evening of your wedding, a little while before the exact time of sunset, me and the both of you will rush outside and get a few last sweet photos together in the super saturated, glowy golden hour light. We can take our time and run to another location or take literally 3 minutes just outside of your venue. In the winter when the sunset is super early, or just because you want to, we can also do a “dusk” session in the blue light of post-sunset or even a session under the stars if it comes to that time of night before you have a moment to get outside. Whichever time of evening works with the itinerary, here’s 3 reasons why you should do it.

1) alone time with your honey after the craziness of photos, social, and usually dinner. Take a minute and breathe each other in again.Have a few minutes to cuddle, chat in quiet about how the second half of the day is going. Tell each other your favorite part of the speeches. Lean on each other, because after all, you’re husband and wife now.

2) this extra session gives us a few more couple photos in totally different, gorgeous light. This lighting is usually some of the best of the day (weather dependent) and can give a whole different piece to your gallery later on compared to the daytime light. You’ll also be in a much more relaxed mood since there’s nothing to stress about anymore

3) I love having couples see what the evening/night of your wedding looks like instead of being inside of a venue from 6pm onward!✨ No matter how beautiful your venue is, it’s cool to remember how humid it was at 9pm on your July wedding, or the little tiny snowflakes that you would’ve missed had you not come outside at 6:45pm in November.

All that said, if it makes your heart happy, do an extra little session in the evening. You won’t regret it!

Photographers: golden hour or blue hour (dusk)? Which do you prefer?
