RUNNING AROUND STILLWATER, IRVINE PARK, & ST PAUL FOR WHIMSICAL COUPLE PORTRAITS
Madeline and James are one of the sweetest couples EVER. This session was straight out of an old movie with their classy outfits and classic locations. The premium 2-hour engagement session that I offer allowed us lots of time and locations, like this little orchard that was randomly in the middle of a neighborhood in St. Paul. It was beautiful! The red apples at the orchard and the red picnic blanket and their neutral outfits truly made a dreamy scheme with gorgeous summery pops of color. And a little champagne loosened them up and made things silly and fun 🙂
A variety of close-ups, medium range, and far-off photos + detail photos are what makes this session a cinematic, storytelling session instead of simple, straightforward smiling photos. Madeline and James made that so easy to accomplish! I loved telling their story through things they love to do. Next, we went to Nina’s Cafe. It was the cutest little spot to highlight Madeline and James’s intentionality for one another and the growth they are always seeking in their relationship.
A few tips for coffee shop photos:
-
Go on a day/at a time of day when the shop is less busy
-
Drink real, yummy drinks for some extra joy (latte art is a bonus)
-
Windows, windows, windows!
-
Don’t be afraid of people. My team & I know what to do and can block strangers out/keep them out of frame with no issue
Next, we ran around Stillwater. We took a quick stop at a beautiful church, and then of course couldn’t miss the bridge!
Madeline’s million-dollar smile + these two made each other laugh over and over! It was so sweet to capture their love. It was so genuine. Our last stop was Irvine Park!
Engagement sessions are special because YOU get to make them special.
No guests are waiting on you, and there is nowhere to be. No one is telling you how many outfits to wear or keeping you in line. This session is super free and if you want it to be an experience, a date, or a memory – we can make it exactly that. I remember Madeline and James’s session feeling exactly like this! It was so unique.
