BEAUTIFUL RAINY SEPTEMBER WEDDING + STUNNING CATHOLIC CHURCH CEREMONY + RUSTIC BARN RECEPTION

This wedding began in Stillwater, MN with the ladies getting ready at the beautiful Jessie Tomme Hair Salon and Spa. The morning was filled with so much joy and so many smiles from Jess. You could so easily see how excited she was to get married and was so obviously loved by her friends and family.
Prior to the ceremony, we got some bride + bridesmaid and groom + groomsmen shots outside of the Church.
The ceremony took place in the beautiful Church of St. Michael. This church in Stillwater is a place we’ve shot at several times and it’s beauty never disappoints – both inside and outside!
Nathan’s response to Jess walking down the aisle was one of the sweetest I’ve ever seen.
Fun fact: the priest who married them is now Auxiliary Bishop Izen!
After church portraits, we headed to Dellwood Barn Weddings venue… and it was POURING. We still did wedding party photos outside in the rain with life saving clear umbrellas (always a must if the forecast is looking sketchy the week before your wedding! You can always return them if you don’t use them)
Despite the gray, rainy day (at times POURING), Jess was a champ and took it all as it came. At points, she knew her dress would get dirty, and that was okay with her because they *chose* to get married on a farm, in a barn, on a fall day, and wanted photos outside. And when we just accepted the weather as is and ran with it, the results were perfection!
Using a flash in a dark, wood barn had such a fitting warm ambiance for this joyful couple.
The best man brought in his own big screen TV to do a slide show presentation to accompany his speech – complete with a pros and cons list for marrying Nathan and Jess that frankly had me actually crying laughing.
In lieu of a sunset session (with the sky being one solid color of gray), we did a few more photos outside and a bunch with flash, where the raindrops showed up in the flash and Jess and Nathan basically just sweetly giggled the entire time
We do add film to packages upon request (with either a professional 35mm or “toy” cameras) and LOVE the vibe it gives, especially during the reception with flash!
