MIDWESTERN SUMMER WEDDING WITH A CATHEDRAL CEREMONY, BRIGHT SUMMERY FLOWERS, AND A BRIDAL PARTY TROLLEY RIDE
The beginning of my relationship with Madeline and James started when they told me they basically wanted their engagement session to be a romance movie. So we had a picnic and champagne in an orchard and ran around with Madeline in a white, summery dress. That was when I knew I was gonna love these two.
For their wedding, summery flowers and their soft blue color theme made things feel very midwestern and sweet, AND matched a lot of the elements of the church they got married in!
Madeline’s beautiful flat lay included a recipe for a “forever wedding cake” from her great grandma!
Madeline got ready with her bridesmaids in their unique dusty blue gowns and her two sisters and mom helped her into everything. Her sister Grace (who put her shoes on) hired me to shoot her wedding in September of that same year!
Madeline and James prayed with each other around a corner at the back of the Cathedral before their ceremony.
This ceremony was beautiful, as many of my clients’ are. Madeline’s dad flipped her blusher veil when they got to the front of the church, and James’s smile couldn’t have gotten any wider!
Church portraits of the couple in a location like this are always a must!
An extreme form of happiness was all over their faces as they walked down the front church steps and people threw rose petals all over them! A trolley ride later, we were at the park and ready to take some very midwestern photos in the green, green grasses.
The beautiful, bright flowers from Dalbol Flowers complimented the dresses and style of the whole day so perfectly!
Sunglasses for the bridal party seemed to be a trend of 2023, and James & Madeline got all of their friends sunglasses to wear during their iconic champagne pop.

This dress fit Madeline SO well and the gorgeous train made for some stunning portraits!
Their reception took place at Avalon Events Center, and these beautiful crystal goblets were bought by the bride’s Dad while on a trip to Italy for them to use for the toasts!
Madeline & James are game people, so along with the shoe game, they played a game where during a song they visited each table for a flashy photo with their guests.
This venue was especially fun because there was a balcony that I could get photos from above on!
We snuck out for a few moments to grab some romantic dusk portraits!
