CATHOLIC WEDDING IN DICKINSON NORTH DAKOTA, BADLANDS STYLE PORTRAITS, WARM SUMMER TONES, AND 1960 T-BIRD CONVERTIBLE GETAWAY CAR.
“I didn’t think in sickness and in health would come quite this soon.” Is quite the unforgettable quote from a wedding day. Keeping in mind that marriage is a sort of “death to self” – Kohl was sick all day of the wedding & made sure his beautiful bride had no idea… read on to see how the story unfolds.
Such a fun flat lay with the warm tones that gave huge reference to the ND badlands.
Kayden’s pearls in her hair and her train were so lovely!
This was one of the most emotional father daughter first looks I’ve ever seen.
We did our first look in the most “badlands” looking location near Dickinson, which was so perfect with the color scheme of their day.
One of my favorite bouquets of the season + the little chamomiles in the boutonnieres were just perfect.
Super cool getaway car! It was a 1960 T-bird convertible car that has been in Kohls family for years. So yes we had to take lots of portraits with it.
These two shared private vows upstairs before their ceremony.
This chapel was in a high school (Dickinson Trinity) and is brand new after the old one burned down.
Just a GORGEOUS ceremony.
Remember how I mentioned Kohl was sick and didn’t let his bride know? After the portraits & ceremony, he finally had to lay down in their party RV and rest, and was actually SO sick that his now wife (a nurse anesthetist) gave him an IV right then & there.
Their reception had beautiful rose gold details all over, continuing the warm, badlands-esque theme.
Kohl, still not feeling well, needed a nice nap during dinner, and Kayden stood up to address the situation and inform their guests in the sweetest way. Teary & choked up, she said, “I didn’t think in sickness and in health would come quite this soon, but Kohl isn’t feeling well, and needs to rest. The important thing is that we got to get married, and everyone we love is in this room.”
Kayden helped and loved Kohl throughout the night with so much grace and joy.
Thankfully, Kohl came out just minutes later & was able to carry on for the rest of the evening for some funny speeches, hilarious fun facts, and a spicy salsa dance.
They added polaroids to their package which was SO fun.
Cheers to the cute moments, but even more to the obvious sacrificial love of these two!
