A CATHOLIC WEDDING AT THE BASILICA OF SAINT MARY WITH A RECEPTION AT THE WALKER ART CENTER

Maddy and Nick’s Minnesota Catholic Wedding day was nothing short of incredible. It was so special to be there because my husband was Maddy’s confirmation sponsor and youth minister back in the day. He was close with her parents and sisters, and the ceremony at the Basilica of Saint Mary is also where I was married.

The day started with details on this gorgeous carpet in Maddy’s parents’ house and the girls getting ready followed by some photos of the guys getting ready and playing poker.

A truly sweet and emotional first look for both Maddy and Nick’s first look and for Maddy and her dad’s first look.

THE WEDDING CEREMONY
Then, it was time for a gorgeous ceremony at the dark and dramatic Basilica of St Mary in Minneapolis. Maddy walked down the aisle looking so regal and angelic with her veil. Our Lady was also all the way on top of the baldacchino, watching over her children as they shared their vows to honor, love, and serve ’til their last breath.

Then Maddy and Nick had a grand exit from their wedding and we made our way to one of the coolest venues ever for portraits and a reception. I’m not even really a modern art person but we were so fortunate to shoot in the room with the hanging installation and on their patio with the skyline view. Not to mention, this reception space is all windows on one side with the Basilica that these two just said their vows in *right there* to look at.

The flowers and candles as decorations were absolutely to die for. The wedding planner, Sydney, had done absolutely incredible on their reception space and all of the details for the day.

Next up were uplifting speeches and just a reminder of how good of people Maddy and Nick are. Nick’s brother’s speech had a hilarious story that had everyone holding their belly about a camping experience and goats stealing his backpack, which was pretty unforgettable too. Also, this was the very first wedding a fire alarm ever went off. Thankfully, it was in the kitchen, not an actual fire, and you couldn’t really hear it from inside the dinner area.

BLESSINGS TO MADDY AND NICK!
