HOLY AND CLASSIC CATHOLIC CATHEDRAL WEDDING IN BISMARCK, ND FEATURING 30 PRIESTS AND A MOTHER SUPERIOR.
This wedding. An honor. A joy. And it was that way since the very first email, when Adam reached out to me *before even proposing* because “Micah said before that you take some of the most stunning Catholic wedding photos she has ever seen,” and he wanted to make sure I was free on their date early on.
A few details and getting ready before Adam and Micah wanted to pray in the chapel together.
A Mother Superior greeting and adoring a close friend just before she gets married – a photo that I don’t know if I’ll ever have the chance to capture again. She then led a rosary before their mass.
This chapel is so cute and was such a cool place to do some photos of Micah by the window.
Yes, there were actually 30 priests at this wedding. They all congregated downstairs and got ready together for what LOOKED like an ordination, but wasn’t.
Multiple people asked me how they ended up having so many priests at their wedding, and the answer is that the Richter family loves priests. They are a well known family in the diocese and chose to be close to priests all over the diocese, inviting them for dinner, engaging in friendship, and remaining close year after year. There were also a couple of priests that were family!
This mass was incredible. The processional was unbelievable, including 30 priests, a whole wedding party, the Knights of Columbus, and of course, the bride & her father walking to her groom.
As Adam said in his inquiry, they were having a “very very Catholic wedding” and wanted to “exaggerate the beauty of the ceremony through the photos” – so that’s exactly what I tried to do!
After communion there was a lovely moment where Adam looked down at his now wife with so much love.
After a blessing from a brand new priest and a few indoor portraits, we headed outside to the gold door on the side of the building and a nearby park for more of the wedding party and couple.
This is, to this day, the biggest wedding I’ve ever shot. I believe they had over 500 people. Apparently the Bismarck Event Center was one of the only places in town able to accommodate that many, so a lot of Richter wedding receptions happen there.
Micah and Adam prepared and served cake to all their guests and what a BEAUTIFUL act of service this was to all their loved ones who came to celebrate them.
Praying for these two & all my clients to make each other into Saints.
CHEERS MICAH & ADAM!
