SUMMERTIME CATHOLIC WEDDING IN NORTH DAKOTA WITH JOYFUL BRIDESMAIDS, A LETTER READING, AND A RECEPTION AT THE RADISSON HOTEL

Elizabeth and Caleb met during their freshman year at the University of Mary when a friend of Caleb’s asked a friend of Elizabeth’s if they wanted to join the group playing Mario Kart. I heavily encourage you to read their full story on The Knot because it is so precious. Their Bismarck Catholic wedding was full of joy and laughter.

The girls started off the day in a fit of giggles, carefully buttoning Elizabeth’s dress as they tried to contain their laughter.

This wedding reminded me how tiny the Catholic world really is. Although I had never met the bride or groom, the MOH was a trusted babysitter of mine, my 2nd shooter was close friends with the bride (her reaction above to Elizabeth’s dress is priceless), and 2 of the bride’s aunts were in a Bible study with me all of last year, just to name a few 😂

After the letter readings, prayers, and first looks, it was time for the joyful ceremony celebrating the union of these two and the start of their new vocations! The celebrants for their wedding were all special to them in different ways – one was their college chaplain, one was their Rome campus chaplain, and one was Caleb’s hometown priest.

Fr. Bouck, their campus chaplain, gave one of the best wedding homilies I had heard all summer. His main point (as can be seen by the incredible sign he gifted them) was that family is ^not^ everything. He spoke on them becoming their own new family now and that that must be prioritized, but God will always be first priority.

The longer I do this work, the more I realize the Father has so much joy for us when we strive to do what he is asking us to do. It’s the way I look at my daughter when she completes a puzzle or has her very own profound thought. He is smitten by us.
