boho industrial coloradO wedding + urban sunset session & ICE CREAM
calden + kayla
A wedding for a family member!! [excited & shocked face] Calden is my little cousin & although I rarely do family weddings (for one reason or another, although I’m always up for the conversation!), I am so glad I was able to be a part of this one. Not only was I their photographer, but I did their florals as well, which included a crescent shape arch with white roses & flowers, tons of greenery, and orange accents. We took a roadtrip to Denver with our little girls in tow & made a trip out of the whole thing!
One fun thing about their decor is that Calden & Kayla chose to display both their mom’s wedding dresses near a table with their guestbook and photos of loved ones’ weddings.
Kayla wore a very southwest boho gown with an open back and looked stunning walking into the white-brick walled venue with hairpin legged tables in the Denver Arts District called “Skylight”, an 828 venue that boasts a sprawling main room where ceremonies and receptions can be held.
The highlight of this ceremony was when the immediate families of the couple came forward and laid hands on them, praying quiet spontaneous prayers of love, gratitude, and well wishes.
They ran outside completely love-drunk & we did photos in the back of the venue with their bridal party & then some solo couple photos. Their friends, siblings, and families were happy for them in the most obvious ways, and it made the afternoon even sweeter.
Kayla leaned into the trend of having a reception dress & changed into this ankle-length dress that had similar vibes to her first one while being more casual, and changed into some adorable white heels too. Before the sun went down, we went out onto the street outside to get some urban sunset photos just as the streetlights came on.
THE SUPERIOR SUMMER WEDDING DESSERT? ICE CREAM, OF COURSE
Don’t just take my word for it. Skylight knows how to host a party, and the DJ at this one had everyone enjoying themselves.
Every congratulations, Calden & Kayla, from me & the rest of my family <3
