Engagement shoot at the Lake Jean Dry Lake Beds

Jake & Allie are the epitome of perfect, young love. They radiate it and seem so unscathed from the dramas of the world. While I was in their presence I was so in awe of their youthfulness and excitement of spending the rest of their lives with and for one another. It makes me smile just remembering how much they basked in this session.

Spending our session at the Dry Lake beds in Lake Jean, NV (just past Seven Magic Mountains totems!) was perfect. Although the lake bed was scattered with people camping and driving their ATV’s, we had enough space and privacy to make the session feel so intimate. If you’re afraid of people watching you take photos or show a little PDA, this is the place for your shoot! It also just felt warm, sunny, and raw. Even in their second outfit with no shoes, they were comfortable (albeit dusty) and we just ran around and caught their love simply, without need of any crazy sights in the background. Just mountains, and a huge sky.

The most memorable part of this session was when Jake was sitting on the ground cuddling and watching Allie. I was snapping away when I saw him physically loosen up and a truly joyful look pass over his face. I lowered my camera and said “Jake, you’re loving this, aren’t y0u!?” and he shyly, but happily, said “yeah, I definitely am.”

We even asked a man on an ATV to drive around us to stir up a dirt cloud to photograph! It was hilarious, cool, and a bit underwhelming.
