SUMMERTIME CATHOLIC WEDDING IN SOUTH DAKOTA FEATURING A RAIN SHOWER, GRAND CHURCH EXIT, AND HILARIOUS SINGING BATTLE
I’m not sure what part of Mary & Dom’s story is sweeter, the fact that their friendship started abroad in Rome or that they basically fell in love on a cross-country road trip. Their rainy, South Dakota wedding is one for the movies.
Mary started off the day getting buttoned up into her dress, dancing around with her girls, and reading a letter from Dominic. Then, she met up with her dad and bridesmaids for joyful first looks.
Their wedding mass was at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Mary and Dom wore some of the biggest smiles I have ever seen as Mary was escorted down the aisle by her dad. Dom mirrored Adam’s joy in the garden: “at last, this one is bone of my bone & flesh of my flesh” 🥹☺️
The bride and groom received the Eucharist from a close friend who is currently in seminary. I love it when my couples can incorporate people so near and dear to their hearts into their ceremony.
A lovely church exit and some portraits after an absolute downpour all over Aberdeen.
We arrived at the reception venue and decided to squeeze in a couple more portraits before heading in. I loved the light this big window in the stairwell gave us.
Their reception started with an incredible entrance and embarrassing speeches 😂
After the first dances, everyone crowded the dance floor for an epic sing-off of “Sweet Caroline” (was I the only one who did not know this was a thing??) and continued on with a conga line to “When the Saints Go Marching In” followed by the bride and groom being lifted into the air.
