A VERY JOYFUL SUMMER WEDDING IN MINNESOTA AT CATHOLIC PARISH OUR LADY OF THE ANGELS, A RIVERSIDE VENUE, AND A BOAT SUNSET SESSION.
My favorite thing was seeing the way John & McKinley just radiated JOY whenever they made contact all throughout their wedding day.
We started with getting ready at Mckinley’s parents’ newly built home with her bridesmaids, and we did a very, very quick dress zip up and first look with her bridesmaids. Sometimes for a more medium size package, like 8 hours, getting the ends of those “getting ready moments” is still very possible if planned precisely!
After this first look, we went out between a row of large trees to take some individual portraits of Mckinley. Her 80s style sleeved gown was one of my most unique this year!
This church, Our Lady of the Angels, was so stunning and simple. The colors even accented the colors of the bridal party so well. Mckinley and her bridesmaids prayed together in the basement chapel before we took a few more solo shots on some side door stairs.
The symmetry of this church was also super aesthetically pleasing, with the ceiling beams, chandeliers, and columns on either side pulling you toward the beautiful painting of Mary above the altar. The lighting was the same! This church truly had very even tones and beautiful lighting, even thought it wasn’t bright by any means.
Mckinley is one of the happiest and most expressive people alive. Her joy rubbed off on literally everyone she came into contact with. During her ceremony, you could so clearly from far off see her immense joy, teary eyed awe, and peaceful prayers.
This wedding gave me some very perfect portraits of the couple in the church before we ended up leaving too. It was so quiet and empty after such a moving ceremony.
With half the portraits at Eagles Healing Nest being dry and the other half being under rain, there was a fun mix of walking out in the open and huddling under porches to stay dry. Mckinley and John were even able to take some portraits under a clear umbrella, which always gives the photos a very romantic European vibe in my opinion.
Details in the Lakeside Ballroom venue were bright even for a gray sky, and the joy lit the place up even more.
A gray sunset session on a boat belonging to the venue.
Dancing was what you might call very “active” this night, with people doing swing dancing flips and dips all over the place – and line dances keeping people out of breath.
Cheers and so many happy wishes to these two!!
