A WEDDING IN MINNEAPOLIS FOCUSED ON THE JOY OF THE DAY AS IT NATURALLY UNFOLDED. FEATURING THE BASILICA OF ST. MARY WITH A RECEPTION AT THE GLASS HOUSE.

Ava and Luke met back in high school at the gym. Before Luke even knew Ava’s name, he wanted her to marry his best friend. The two soon found out that we committed to play college sports at the same school and became fast friends. When COVID hit, they spent more time together, and now here they are getting married at the Basilica of St. Mary (the church I married the love of my life in 7 years ago 🥺).

While Ava was putting on her final touches, a note was slid under the door. I love seeing sweet, small, intentional acts of love on the morning of a wedding day.

Yep, you saw that right. Not only did Ava have a gorgeous sleek dress, but she topped it with a coat to add more texture to her look. The perfect way to not have to compromise on what type of dress you want!

I will forever be obsessed with this church and it’s grand archway. The art, the detail, and the love was palpable here.

THE CEREMONY

Oh how I love when the images I take are a representation of something even deeper. Like Mary stretching out her arms in tender love over this couple.

I like to think about how many brides and grooms have walked out of these legendary gold doors just married and how this is just really a threshold of joy and hope.

When chatting with the couple about wedding photos, they said they wanted the photos to feel natural and simply document the day. “We just don’t want to feel like we are getting married for the photos rather than taking photos of us getting married if that makes sense.” – Ava.
