If you were looking for Part 2 of Lyndsey & Currie, you found it.
If you haven’t seen Part 1 (a sweet sunset session at the El Dorado dry lake bed) of their session, make sure you do. Otherwise, let me tell you a little bit about the Neon Museum & what it’s like to shoot some photos there!
A few weeks before this session, I finally visited the Neon Museum on a guided tour, and it’s WAY cooler than you’d imagine. Not only does it look really interesting, but the history behind it all is incredible. The main boneyard “features more than 250 signs, several of which are restored, a visitors’ center housed inside the former La Concha Motel lobby, and Brilliant!, a light projection exhibit.” We were lucky enough to find a private slot where we could rent the North Gallery all to ourselves to take photos in for this session.
At the North Gallery, you get stunning (albeit a bit uneven) light streaming through the signs, even a couple of hours before sunset, when these photos were taken!
Lyndsey also chose outfits that contrasted her first outfits a lot, which was perfect for the contrasting scenery. At the Dry Lake, she and Currie wore soft, whimsical fabrics, including a long white dress with spaghetti straps; at the Neon Museum, she chose a super unique leather jacket, heeled white boots, and a hat to pull the entire thing together perfectly.
If you’ve ever wanted photos at the Neon Museum, jump on the opportunity! Make sure you go on their website and read their guidelines & types of sessions, because you have to book them out in advance quite a ways depending on the type of session. It can be pricey, but where else are you going to find a venue like this?
