Raquel and her family are friends of my family, from our very little ND prairie town. I’m the same age as her oldest brother, and our siblings were friends growing up. Our mothers are still super close, so it felt almost like I was shooting a wedding for my little cousin 🥹 I was also able to spend time with some of my favorite videographers on their wedding day, Anna & Garrett, who make magic every time.
Raquel is simply put – a sweet, happy girl with such zeal for her faith. From the moment I showed up until I left, I don’t think I stopped crying.

The bride and her dad had a first look in the lobby of the church. Then Jacob and Raquel shared some sweet, intimate moments of prayer in the chapel.
Group prayer before the ceremony – let’s just say there were a couple more tears here.
As the ceremony went on, all I could think is “this is what I want for my daughters.” A holy marriage (or vocation) surrounded by loved ones and joy. Both the videographers and myself were wiping tears from our cheeks 😭 and there was not a dry eye in these front pews as Raquel & Jacob got emotional after receiving the Eucharist together.
Sometimes the little sister of the bride rushes out of the church to break down in joyful tears in her arms, and sometimes their 3 brothers follow suit. And sometimes I’m a mess at weddings because seeing other people’s intensity in their love for each other really is just so moving (especially when I’ve known these people since I was 9 years old).
After the first dance, with a very teary-eyed Jacob, the night radiated joy. In case you were wondering, the best North Dakota Catholic weddings end with tons of polka dancing, a Hawaiian lūʻau, and a bright sunset 🪩🥃🎤🌺🥥
