A SENTIMENTAL RURAL ND CATHOLIC WEDDING AT ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH WITH HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEARTS
This rural ND Catholic Wedding was extra special for me, because it was my little brother and new sister’s. They met way back in high school and the term ‘high school sweethearts’ definitely fits. I love walking with people and getting to know them throughout the process of wedding planning, but it was even sweeter to help my family plan out theirs and get to be the company that preserved their memories through photography and videography.
We all got ready at my childhood home, cluttered with sweet little girls excited about the makeup and flowers they would be throwing later. Madison gave the moms custom Etsy bags with little photos of the bride & groom as kiddos. Meanwhile, the guys got ready at the church, with Josh in this incredible tan tux from Men’s Wearhouse.
THE WEDDING CEREMONY
The wedding was at our hometown parish, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Beulah, ND.
The hugs and heartfelt joy after Josh and Madison excited the church, as husband and wife, were just too good not to share here.
I really love getting portraits of the couple inside the church and then running over to a green area to get even more.
Now onto the reception at my nana & papa’s with the most stunning florals from Love Always Floral, matchbooks as customized wedding favors, playing cards as a guest book (because who doesn’t want to be reminded of their wedding day every time they play cards?!), and the yummiest pizza from FireFlour.
So on this special day, after the traditional parent dances, Madison gave an emotional toast about her mother’s health journey and tearfully asked her mom to come out and join her on the dance floor. Halfway through the song, all of the other mothers & daughters were invited to join them. And we beamed, and we cried, and we had grateful hearts.
Some special aspects of this wedding reception:
- The playset and fire pit just outside, because again, this reception was in nana & papa’s yard lol
- Josh & Madison dancing and parting until the END because they had a truly killer playlist (thanks DJ Hector😂)
- A soft, hazy sunset session with the newlyweds
